"The 25th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day is Saturday and volunteers are invited to lend a hand picking up debris at the state's beaches and inland shorelines. Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at more than 750 locations, including at least 70 sites in Los Angeles County, this is California's largest volunteer event. "Nine people died and nine others were missing after Typhoon Koppu slammed into south China, causing torrential rain, mudslides and an oil spill, the government and state media said on Thursday. "Shark Watch, a not-for-profit organization, uses cost-effective 'auto gyro' aircrafts to patrol beaches. Beaches from South West Rocks near Nambucca Heads to Redrock, west of Grafton, will be patrolled between 9am and 3pm on weekends from October until March. "Coast Guard rescue crews headed for a popular surfing area on the south side of Yaquina Head, in Newport, Oregon Wednesday, to rescue four surfers who were trapped on rocks at the base of Yaquina Head. The Coast Guard at Yaquina Bay received a call at 5:00 p.m. from 911 asking for assistance in the rescue of the four men. Surfers share waves with dolphins

"Ceduna surfer Andrew Brooks has shared the waves with some real professionals. Mr Brooks, a photographer, was surfing at a break off remote Cape Adieu, about 150km west of Ceduna, on Tuesday when a pod of 40 to 50 dolphins joined him. After a not-so-stellar start to this season, Dane Reynolds has elected to take a page from Kelly Slater's equipment playbook in order to keep himself interested in the tour.
